The Oguz state is the Oguz tribes that occupied the vast territory of Kazakhstan along the Irgiz, the Urals, Emba, Wil, in the Aral Sea region, the Syr Darya valley, the foothills of Karatau, the Chui valley. The etymology of the name «Oguz» is unclear and has been discussed more than once in domestic and foreign historical and philological literature. The term probably meant «tribes», «unification of tribes», but then could turn into an ethnic name with a collective meaning.
It was here, in Ulytau, many centuries ago that the events that became pivotal in the history of the Kazakh people unfolded, here on the white koshma, according to tradition, the proclaimed khans were raised up and the khan's stakes themselves were located here – Khan Ordasy. It is from Ulytau that the campaign of the legendary Tamerlane against Khan Tokhtamysh begins, and the great khans – Zhoshy, Alasha, Tokhtamysh, Batyr Yedige and other historical figures rested here, and here, according to legend, the famous storyteller Asankaygy found the land of dreams – Zheruyyk.
